About This Treatment

Precise, doctor‑supervised needling to modulate pain, calm the nervous system, and support natural healing.

At Atmabodh, Acupuncture blends classical meridian principles with modern, evidence‑informed practice. Ultra‑fine, sterile needles are placed at specific points to influence local circulation, neuromuscular tone, and stress pathways. Treatments are personalised, gentle, and coordinated with your ongoing medical care when needed.

Acupuncture supports well‑being and symptom relief. It does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment. Please continue medicines as prescribed by your physician.

Why choose Acupuncture at Selfcare?

  • Physician‑led planning with clear indications, goals, and safety checks.

  • Personalised point selection based on your symptoms, exam, and constitution.

  • Hygiene first: single‑use, sterile, hair‑thin needles; clean, quiet therapy suites.

  • Gentle technique tailored to comfort (minimal stimulation; no force).

  • Integrative care: pairs well with Ayurveda, Yoga Therapy, Physiotherapy, and lifestyle guidance.

  • Practical home advice to extend benefits (breath pacing, heat/ergonomics as applicable).

Who can benefit?

  • Neck/shoulder and back pain; myofascial tightness; postural strain.

  • Knee, hip, and ankle discomfort (degenerative/overuse patterns).

  • Headaches & migraine tendency (supportive care; intensity/frequency may reduce for some).

  • Jaw tension/Bruxism; facial tightness.

  • Tennis/golfer’s elbow, carpal tunnel‑like symptoms (supportive care with ergonomics).

  • Plantar fascia and heel pain (with load management).

  • Stress, anxiety, and sleep dysregulation (down‑regulation focus).

  • Functional digestive discomfort (bloating, irregularity) alongside diet advice.

  • Perimenopausal symptoms (sleep, hot flashes; timing‑aware; physician‑guided).

Suitability is individual; some conditions require medical clearance.

What happens in a session?

  • Brief intake: symptoms, triggers, red flags, and goals.

  • Assessment: posture/range, palpation for tender points, meridian mapping.

  • Needling: 5–20 ultra‑fine needles placed; retained for 15–30 minutes.

  • Adjuncts (if indicated): gentle heat, breath‑led relaxation.

  • After‑care plan: short self‑care routine; frequency and review timeline.

Typical duration: 45–60 minutes (first consult may be longer).

Safety & contraindications

  • Absolute: refusal to consent; needle phobia with distress; local infection at site.

  • Relative: pregnancy (certain points avoided), bleeding disorders, anticoagulants, uncontrolled BP/diabetes, recent surgery/acute injury, severe neuropathy.

  • Sensation: a dull, heavy, or warm ache (de‑qi) is normal; sharp pain is not tell your therapist.

  • After‑care: hydrate, keep warm, avoid heavy workouts or alcohol the same day; eat lightly.

What you may notice over time

  • Reduced pain/tension and easier movement.

  • Calmer mood, steadier energy, better sleep quality.

  • Improved headache frequency/intensity for some patterns.

  • With consistency, benefits compound; many feel a shift within 3–6 sessions.

Frequency is personalised (often weekly/fortnightly, then tapered).
